Something I’ve been thinking about a lot is the idea going around social media that “beige, bland capsule wardrobes” are dying. I don’t think that’s true— mostly because I don’t find them boring! I think there has been a shift in the current cultural zeitgeist that does lean towards more colorful, more eccentric, and more eclectic, which is great… but it’s not me! After getting my colors done by the lovely Natalie of District Color, I tried to put together outfits with more color and focused on pieces that were in my color palette, but they just didn’t feel quite right. I’ve long known that black wasn’t my best color, but I always felt so chic in it. Natalie and I talked about that at length— ultimately, dressing is uniquely personal and what makes you feel your best, only you can know!
So today I wanted to share some of the things I’ve been eyeing lately! You’ll notice they are neutrals, because I like how easy they are to mix and match together! I find that having those colors in my wardrobe are relaxing and make getting dressed a little easier when I don’t have to think about how things might pair up.
I’ve always been a fan of a drop-earring, and I love how minimalistic these are! They’re the perfect little bit of bling that you can wear every day. They’d be great for date nights, days in the office, or even sprucing up a teeshirt and jeans.
2. Wool Blazer
Shock and awe is all I can say I felt when I saw this blazer was 100% wool and on sale! It is final sale, so be weary of that if you aren’t comfortable with Banana Republic sizing. I love that it’s slim, but relaxed, and doesn’t look too oversized. I’ve been wanting to find a more tan/brown blazer to wear into the spring, and this might be a perfect option! Banana Republic has really been stepping it up with their quality in the last few years, and I’m pleasantly surprised to see that material tag!
Belts with dresses is a staple look in my closet, but sometimes those thick chunky belts are too much. This ultra-thin version from Polène is sophisticated and subdued without being boring. The brown is currently out of stock and going on my wishlist, but the black is available here! I have a vintage adjustable belt from Etienne Aigner that I love, but it’s starting to fall apart, and this would be a beautiful replacement!
These boots have been all over TikTok this fall and winter as a great option for women with wider calves— without having to get the wide calf version! That’s practically unheard of, and I can’t tell you how many boots I’ve returned because I can’t get them up my leg. These are currently on sale so it’s a great time to try them! I just ordered them in the black suede and will report back if they’re as good as they sound…
I’m pretty sure the original iteration of this dress, made by Reformation, is no longer made… While they pop up occasionally on Poshmark or other secondhand sites, if you don’t want to deal with the uncertainty of buying secondhand and being stuck with something that does fit, this one from French Connection is of the same style and an extra 50% off right now! There’s also this one on Amazon which has really good reviews, especially from the petite women who have tried it and say it’s not too long!
The Polène bags have been all the rage over the last 2 or so years, and for good reason. They’re stunning! If you’re not quite ready to shill out for one of the bags, this beautiful wrap wallet is a great way to intro to the brand without spending a fortune. My current wallet is an old thing from Target, and while I’ve loved it… it’s seen better days. It’s roughly the same shade as this one from Polène and I adore the color!
Like I mentioned in my last post, I’m on the hunt for some new jeans (ideally that hit just below the ankle so I can wear them with boots). I’d be lying if I said the styling here didn’t get me— it’s flawless! Easy, chic, effortless, and feels totally wearable! I haven’t tried Banana Republic jeans before, so if you have, let me know if you like them!
Thrift & Tell is one of my all-time favorite follows both blog and Instagram. Everything she wears is great, and I’m always eyeing her finds to see if there’s anything my size (although I think she and I are very similar size if not exactly the same, so I don’t blame her if she keeps them for herself!). She recommends these sneakers over the Adidas Sambas, and says the Adidas are popular but not comfortable whereas she can put 10,000 steps per day with no problems! That’s a glowing recommendation if I’ve ever heard one!
You have probably heard of this cardigan at some point if you follow any popular Instagram fashionista— it feels like everyone has one!!! I don’t, but I do have a well-loved Old Navy cardigan that I was was a little warmer. Since this Sézane knit is a mohair and alpaca blend, it will be considerably warmer than my current cotton/acrylic version. I’ve heard to size down in this cardigan!
Looking to upgrade your loungewear? Same! This set from Mango looks great with a zip jacket and wide leg pants. I like that it’s a jacket instead of a sweater, because you can layer a tank or tee underneath and take off the jacket if you get too warm. It feels more versatile than being stuck with a sweater! There’s also a pair of shorts that you could swap out as the weather warms up in the spring!
xx happy hunting!
