Coming up with pieces I wanted to showcase this week was tough. I felt like I couldn’t get any good motivation, what I had in mind didn’t seem to be popping up online for me to share, and trying to savor any focus time was interrupted by two back-to-back snow days and lots of teleworking.
I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed sharing secondhand finds until I started this little mini-series. Like I talked about in my last post, I have struggled with the buying process: overconsumption, constant trends, and comparison that turns what was my favorite pastime into a barrage of sameness. But buying secondhand pieces allows us to explore what we enjoy independent of trends or influence from others online. It allows us to feel better about the ethics of our purchases (I for one am happy to buy Zara, Mango, etc. secondhand). It allows us to find unique pieces that break up the sameness we might experience when we log into social media.
Those things got me through creating this collage of finds for you today, and I hope they bring some pre-spring warmth and sunshine into your day like they did mine!
~As you may know, buying secondhand can be great when you find something, but it won’t last if you don’t snatch it up! At the time of publication all of these pieces were available, but things may sell out… so don’t let something get away from you if you have your eye on it!~
Sézane has a knack for these beautiful floral prints, and the cut of this blouse is similar to their iconic Chlo blouse. This springy pattern is still available in some sizes on their website, but why not give this one a second life buying secondhand? I think it would look fabulous layered with a sherpa vest and dark-wash denim. You could tuck it into a skirt for office-wear, or with cut-off jeans for brunch!
2. Rust-Colored Suede Backpack
Who says suede is only for the fall? Not here, and certainly not this color! Any of my warm-tone loving girls out there should scoop this bag up! It’s a great red, but with that warm, rich color, it’ll feel a little extra special. I love the slouchy shape paired with crisp lines (like a button down or great pants like we’ll see in #7), and how versatile it is!
Does anyone else remember when the black and white striped Sandro Molina dress was everywhere a few summers ago? Meet her cool, colorful sister! The knit fabric is great for dressing up or down, but also maintains a feminine air with the ruffle hems at the bottom of the skirt and sleeves. This would be a great office piece, or even something for date night!
If you’re more of a neutrals fan, try out a dress like this one: you get details across the dress, like in the shoulders, on the chest, and at the waistline, which helps make the dress feel more detailed than being simply… “brown.” Pair it with a structured blazer and flats (I like the camel + red combo with the flats in #10), or with espadrilles as the temperatures warm up! Available options are in sizes US S, US M, US M, US L, and US XL.
5. Gucci Mules
I have strongly considered moving away from affiliate links on this blog because I solely want to share pretty things with you all, but I can’t argue that seeing what you’re clicking on most is super helpful! In this case, the Gucci Princetown mules I shared a few weeks back were big hits, so I wanted to bring them back but in a more spring-focused way! I absolutely believe you would wear these as a winter white, so pair them with the beautiful green Sandro dress for a springy feel, or pair them with dark denim and the suede backpack if the temps drop again! Available options are in sizes EU 38, EU 38, EU 39, EU 38, and EU 41. Go up a half size in these if you’re considering them!
I am obsessed with scarves. That’s a pretty bold statement for someone who owns one silky scarf, but I am. I love them with everything in me. They immediately add something to an outfit that you might have needed before, they’re a fun— temporary— accessory to add to a bag handle, or you can use them to tie up your hair if you didn’t feel like washing it! I think they’re also a great entry into luxury goods, if you’re into that, and Hermès’ twillies are no exception. I love the blue in this one— it’s almost like a Charleston porch ceiling. And Charleston is the epitome of warm weather to me!
Need a good work pant? I’ve got the answer for you! This beautiful pair from Rachel Comey certainly fit the bill! These are a great option to add a little fun formality to your workwear: the exaggerated flare feels fun, but the structured, high waist gives the pants a seriousness that anchors anything you might pair them with! These would be really cool with a scarf tied as a top in the late spring or early summer!
Looking to continue that structured whimsy? Have no fear, we have more options! Veronica Beard is the queen of elevated workwear, where twists and turns are often incorporated as part of the fun of getting dressed. This asymmetrical blouse is no exception! A take on the classic button-down, this blouse gives a peplum-like shape and plenty of visual interest which pairs beautifully with trousers, skinny jeans (which are NOT dead!!!!), or a full a-line skirt. There are available options in sizes US M, US 2, US 4, and US 14.
Spring is a great time to break out those sunnies again and feel the sun on your face! These oversized options will keep your eyes protected and make your outfit stand out. I’m personally a huge fan of all-over acetate sunglasses, as I find them more comfortable than wired versions like aviators. There are available pairs here and here.
10. Tomato-Red Flats
Bring a pop of color into your spring wardrobe with the ultimate saturated color: bright, poppy red. While many of us may have put away the reds after Christmas, bring them back out to play with your spring neutrals (like a camel trench) or with colorful options in your wardrobe like petal pink or baby blue! Personally, I think they’d pair beautifully with the Hermès twilly in #6! Available sizes are EU 37W, and EU 40.
If you liked this post, please consider sharing with your friends, leaving me a comment to tell me what you’re eyeing for spring, or sharing my content on social media! I’m so grateful for each and every one of you!
xx happy hunting!
