Friday Finds: Colorful Spring Workwear

Have you ever heard of Polyvore? Founded in 2007, Polyvore was a beauty, fashion, and homeware collage creation site where you could share collages and collections. I loved Polyvore and used it on and off (usually in very focused bursts during my holiday breaks) for many years until it was bought by SSENSE in 2018 and shutdown very shortly thereafter.

Losing Polyvore left me in a creative rut for a number of years— between navigating my first big girl jobs out of college and trying to manage a social life, the dating scene, and staying active, I really fell off of anything creative in that way. I had a small apartment to decorate and tried to do so with love and I worked from home, so I often felt like I didn’t need any clothes to express myself: jeans and a tee-shirt did just fine when I was just going to put on running clothes in the late afternoon. Polyvore had been the escape for me to let off that creative steam, but I didn’t have the platform anymore, so I ignored that creative desire and tried to channel it elsewhere.

When I started my blog, I was desperate to be able to create in that same way again. I loved sharing ways to mix and match clothing, pieces that were already in your wardrobe with new finds— things that would pop up while browsing, and inspirational dressing for an office I haven’t returned to and really never got to experience in my office tenure. I started doing it based on upcoming events, pictures I would find on Pinterest of far away places I wished I could travel to, etc. and that creativity felt like it was flowing out of me with an endless and unencumbered abandon— but it was dependent on finding new things and playing with them. Less so the things in my own closet, but more the things anyone could wear or anyone might like.

I can’t guarantee that Friday Finds will look like this forever, but for now I’m enjoying showing you not only the pieces I’m finding and taking delight in, but how you can style them as well! This week, I’ve integrated new finds with some of previous weeks finds (those which are still available) to show you a few options and variations for styling! I hope you love it!!

~As you may know, buying secondhand can be great when you find something, but it won’t last if you don’t snatch it up! At the time of publication all of these pieces were available, but things may sell out… so don’t let something get away from you if you have your eye on it!~

**As an aside many of you saw my note about the ‘Chanel flats that got away’ last week. Please don’t be like me and make this same mistake; it will haunt you like it has haunted me. If you love something, GET IT!!! (within your means, of course)… And if I ever post something you’re interested in but it’s not your size, please reach out via email or Instagram! I take styling clients as well, and I’m happy to work with you to build your dream closet!**
